Will you drink N290m champagne?

It sounds like a trick question doesn’t it? But we’re serious, will you drink the white sparkling wine alcohol worth N290m a bottle?
Last week, luxury designer Alexander Amosu announced that he had created the world’s most expensive champagne ‘Taste of Diamonds‘ which costs £1,200,000 (about N290m).
The design takes its inspiration from
the ‘Superman’ style signature, is handmade in 18ct solid gold, weighs approximately 36gsm, handcrafted and engraved with the client’s name, Goût de Diamants.
Luxury champagne brand Goût de Diamants is an award winning, handmade, luxury champagne company from a family run estate in Oger, France.
As soon as the news hit websites and lifestyle blogs, reactions immediately followed – not about the shape of the bottle, not about Amosu’s design but about the ‘outrageous’ amount a bottle costs – a whooping N290m!
In the forefront of complainants was Psquare’s Peter Okoye. The Pop singer (who often posts photos of himself cavorting in comfort of his million naira family mansion) wasn’t buying the idea (let alone the drink) of a bottle of champagne costing that much.
‘The most expensive champagne. £1.2million. (N250million) May dis champagne never CHOP MY MONEY IJN. Dis time I really care’.  Peter wrote, adding in a sarcastic tone, ‘So dats like N50million per glass…. Ladies are u with me? #Nawash’.
He seemed to have spoken the minds of many Nigerians, as comments on several blogs voiced the same opinion.
‘lmao @ who am i…………. my dear drink a glass nd go to heaven lol…. According to Peter, may dis champagne never chop my money ijn’, Miss Teenu wrote.
‘Unless that drink can give eternal youth, anyone who actually pays for it is just confirming to us that his/her wealth was stolen! Which Mugu would spend their hard earned money on this????’, another comment read.
But trust Amosu, a shrewd businessman (who made global record when he created the world’s most expensive suit in 2008) to come up with some witty reply; the UK based entrepreneur responded by posting a screenshot of Peter’s comments, simply asking Goût de Diamants to send a bottle Peter’s way.
It’s was quite sarcastic of Amosu whose subsequent comments sought to establish the fact that the drink is meant for ‘Big Boys Only’.
So really the question isn’t of a will to drink, rather should be ‘can you buy champagne worth N290m?!
