Pennsylvania doctor, 72, arrested after killing four babies

A Pennsylvania doctor was arrested and charged with murder related charges after killing at least 4 newborn babies, according to court proceedings in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Kermit Gosnell
Doctor Kermit Gosnell, 72, is accused of killing four babies after allegedly being born alive during abortion procedures at a clinic in Philadelphia. The doctor was convicted of three counts of first-degree murder on Monday.
Gosnell also was convicted of involuntary manslaughter in the death of a patient who came to him for a later term abortion procedure.
He was acquitted of a fourth charge of first-degree murder.
The verdict was reached after ten days of deliberations.
The doctor was also charged with third-degree murder for the death of 41-year-old Karnamaya Mongar, an immigrant, who died after having an abortion at Gosnell’s clinic.
“It seems like that this doctor was killing as many babies as possible in order to enrich himself, and it didn’t matter to him if the babies are alive or unborn. The doctor is a danger to the public and I hope he will be kept in prison until he dies,” Jim Cruz, 31, of Idaho Falls, Idaho told after learning about the abortion doctor.
Eight former employees have pleaded guilty to murder and other charges and have testified to seeing the babies move, breathe and cry.
Prosecutors claimed that the doctor created an “assembly line” of patients, performing over 1,000 abortions per year and profited handsomely. He was accused of treating women with unsterilized equipment and employing unskilled workers.
