German doctors said that the Afghan man, who for years suffered from headaches, runny nose and eye problems, had a 10-centimeter or four-inch pencil lodged in his head.
Surgeons at the University Hospital of Aachen took out the pencil from the 24-year-old, and he

The pencil injured the man’s sinuses and right eye socket.
When asked how the pencil got in his head, he recalled having fallen once as a child and suffering a severe nosebleed.
The case was presented at a medical conference in Essen on Tuesday by Professor Frank Hoelzle of Aachen University.
The pencil was noticed only after a thorough medical examination by computer tomography, which is a technique for image scanning.
