The Gods Are Still Not To Blame’ Premieres April 19, 2013 at Silverbird Galleria, Lagos

The premiere of the movie, The Gods Are Still Not To Blame, has been fixed for April 19, 2013. The premiere will take place at Silverbird Galleria, Victoria Island, Lagos. The theatrical release of the movie, takes place on the same day. The movie is a contemporary adaptation of the classic Greek tragedy, Oedipus Rex. It is the story of a child, fated to kill his father, and marry his mother.
The movie was directed by Funke Fayoyin, and it stars Carol King, Bayo Alawiye, Seun Akindele, and Gabriel Afolayan. Featured in the movie are Iretiola Doyle, Gloria Anozie-Young, Kareem Adepoju, Akin Lewis, Bukky Ajayi, and Nobert Young.

The Story
As the story goes, a child was born to King Adedoyin, and while the naming ceremony is in progress, the diviner proclaims that the new baby will kill his father and marry his mother. In the ensuing melee, the grief-stricken mother connives with one of her maids to adopt the baby and relocate to her native Cameroon in order to avert the prophecy. Twenty-eight years later, duty calls, and the young man returns to his motherland where he would fulfill the prophecy, warts and all.
