Usher Breaks Silence On Son's Pool Accident
Usher is reaching out to the two men
who saved his son's life on Monday
when the child's arm got stuck in a
pool drain."I am blessed and fortunate
to say that my son Usher V is doing
well and is recovering," read a
statement from the singer. "I am
overwhelmed by the outpouring of
prayers, love and support for my
family's well-being. I would like to
thank my Aunt Rena as well as the
doctors and nurses who are working
with us around the clock."In particular,
he shouted out the men who rushed to
save the five-year-old when aunt Rena
Oden as unable to free the child's arm
from a pool drain after he'd jumped in
to try and retrieve a toy that had fallen
in. "I would especially like to thank
the two men who saved my son's life,
Eugene Stachurski and Ben Crews.
They are true heroes and I am deeply
grateful to them," Usher wrote.The
star's ex-wife, Tameka Raymond, has
reportedly filed legal papers seeking
temporary primary custody of the
couple's two children in light of the
incident. According to TMZ,
Raymond claims that Usher is out of
town the majority of each month and
has delegated responsibility for the
children to others.In the papers, filed
by Raymond on Tuesday in Fulton
County, Georgia, she seeks decision-
making power over the children's
education, healthcare, religion and
extracurricular activities. A hearing
date for the custody request has not yet
been set.
